Caverns exist in many areas where scuba divers venture – from freshwater springs to volcanic island walls and limestone coasts. In these locations you’ll find large, dark spaces that seem incredibly inviting, yet are potentially dangerous. The SSI Cavern Diving Specialty course gives you the knowledge and skills to explore caverns correctly – allowing you to enter far enough for adventure, but staying within the light zone for an easy exit to open water.
Cavern diving is the first level of cave diver training. It is here that the journey begins into the timeless realm of caves. You will gain an understanding and respect for the beauty of the overhead environment. The cavern course with SeaVentures is offered over a two or three day period in which the diver will receive a rich grounding in the basics of cavern diving and have the opportunity to explore at least two of North Florida’s most beautiful cavern zones.
To complete the SSI Cavern Diving specialty, you must be 18 years old or older and possess a minimum certification of Advanced Open Water Diver with 24 logged dives. This specialty requires one pool dive and four open water dives. This specialty requires a trip that is scheduled on an individual basis with you and SeaVentures’ Cavern diving instructor. Call the shop at 770-992-3772 to schedule your cavern diving course and trip today.
