The SSI Scooter/DPV Diving course provides you with skills required to safely plan and conduct dives using underwater scooters or diver propulsion vehicles (DPVs). A DPV is an underwater scooter that allows you to visit a larger area in a single dive than you could see in a normal dive. The scooter propels you faster than you can kick which means you’ll use less energy and air, thus extending your dive a little longer.
You will learn the special precautions for using DPVs, how to maintain buddy contact and control your equipment, and how to safely enjoy the new experiences that a DPV dive provides.
You must be 12 years old or older and have a minimum certification level of Open Water Diver to complete the SSI Scooter/DPV Diving course. It requires one pool dive and two open water dives. This class is usually scheduled in conjunction with a SeaVentures trip. Click here to see our trip calendar!
