Many divers look forward to seeing sea turtles at some point during their underwater excursions. This makes the SSI Sea Turtle Ecology Course a popular non-diving specialty program for certified Open Water Divers.
The SSI Sea Turtle Ecology course teaches you the skills and concepts required to:
– Recognize and identify common species of sea turtles
– Describe their history and role in marine ecosystems
-Identify threats to their survival
Learning about the anatomy and behavior of the Sea Turtles can help greatly in their conservation and preservation.
You must be 10 years old or older to complete the SSI Sea Turtle Ecology course. There are no pool or open water dives required. Anyone, including non-certified divers, can take this course. If desired, it can be taken in conjunction with SSI Open Water Diver. The certification will be issued upon completion of SSI Open Water Diver.
